Breakfast in Champa Lodge
We stayed in Palm lodge. We loved the pressure and hot water in the shower. The mosquito net and coil burner reduced the risk of bites. The two fans were positionable and the stand up fan was moveable so the temperature at night was comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast looking over the river, the crepes were lovely and it was good cafetière coffee. The fruit bowl was a generous portion with yoghurt. We ate dinner here both nights and had great steaks one night with kampot pepper. The Khmer bbq looked a sociable option streaming vegetables, noodles and a meat platter over a charcoal table burner. There are great beer and wine options. We used the kayaks and enjoyed exploring the green cathedral , although there was more plastic pollination than we’d expected. We used earplugs at night - there was music from local resorts. We didn’t mind the noise of the fishing boats passing or the mosque. We loved the geckos and the tree frog that peered out from a bamboo hanging pot inside - but decided to return it outside! We took the advertised Tuk Tuk tour and thoroughly enjoyed a genuine, local viewpoint avoiding the more commercial pepper plantations. This was a great way to experience the locality. It’s easy to get Tuk tuks into Kampot. Staff are lovely.

The location is stunning and peaceful, directly next to the river side. They grow some of the produce for meals on site and the rest is mostly from the local market. The menu was huge and what we had from it was great. The chef I believe is French, as is the owner, and this definitely was noticeable in the mix of European and Asian food alike. They also have a vast selection of Belgian Beers if that is your thing. We hired some Kayaks from the lodge and took them independently on one of the two main Kayak routes within five minutes from the river bank. This was one of our highlights of our three week trip in Cambodia and was a really good opportunity to see wildlife and just feel relaxed amongst the quiet bamboo surroundings. Highly recommend. We wish we had been able to stay here longer. The staff were also lovely and did their best to help us when ever we asked for assistance.

We stayed in the palm lodge. The bedroom is a typical very nice Khamer construction. The garden is beautiful and well kept. Nice river front veranda makes the breakfast experience unique. The toilet at the restaurant it is an experience in itself, they even have a fish pond there. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Good food.

The keyword is expectations. If you want to experience an authentic Khmer house, this is the ideal place. Traditional houses, a well-maintained resort, a tasty, rich breakfast, and kind, helpful staff. Located right at the starting point of the kayak trips.

Really nice spot out of Kampot but easy to get there with a tuk tuk. Very peaceful place, very well maintained. Basic breakfast is much better than at other places. Great to have a glass of wine at night and to enjoy the warm summer night outside.
